Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet town which is situated in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. Many people unfamiliar with the word generally believe that it's an isolated island to the west of Montreal but in fact the West Island is home to anything and everything that is found in the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time there was short. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to dance but an increase in her height meant she grew beyond her dance partner. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed that she was six feet and one inch tall. After I outgrew my male counterparts I stopped. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was a nudge from one of her drama teachers at the high school who pushed her into the right direction. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out for the role of Anne in the school's annual production. The student tried it out, and was eventually cast as the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. She was given the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. For the last twenty years she has had her in more than 60 shows and films. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (shown below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 of the series and rarely seen.
